Identifying idle properties in consolidated and infrastructured urban areas is essential for adequate urban management. This article carried out a bibliometricsystematic review that investigated, at a global level, through scientific literature, research related to the phenomenon of idle properties and its consequences. Between 2019 and 2025, 23 articles intrinsic to the topic were identified from Scopus. The results highlighted a significant concern among researchers in using methodologies to identify these properties as a basis for directing urban policies for public safety, combating the housing deficit and preserving built heritage.
