Tiago Augusto da Cunha,

Currently, I hold the position of Specialized Technical Advisor at the General Coordination of Special Projects, within the Department of Social Housing Production, at the National Secretariat of Housing, under the Ministry of Cities. I am: a) a graduate in Architecture and Urbanism from the School of Engineering of São Carlos at the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP, now IAU-USP, 2005), b) a specialist in Geoprocessing from the Postgraduate Program in Urban Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos (PPGEU, UFSCar, 2007), c) a master's degree holder in Demography from the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences at the State University of Campinas (IFCH, UNICAMP, 2010), d) also a Ph.D. holder from the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences at the State University of Campinas (IFCH, UNICAMP, 2014), where I also did a sandwich Ph.D. at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) Departament d'Antropologia Social i Cultural with Professor José Luis Molina and finally, e) a post-doctoral researcher at the Center for Demographic Studies (CED) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) under the supervision of Professor Albert Steve Palós. I worked in the Planning Departments of the Municipalities of Franco da Rocha and Santana de Parnaíba, in São Paulo, where I was one of the responsible parties for the development of their Municipal Master Plans, as well as various other architectural and urban projects. I was a professor in the Architecture and Urbanism courses at São Francisco University (USF-Itatiba/SP) and Paulista University (UNIP-Jundiaí/SP) for approximately 7 years. Until April 2024, I was a Professor at the Department of Architecture and Urbanism (DAU) at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). I also worked in the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism also at the Federal University of Viçosa (PPGAU-UFV), as a member of Line 1 of the offered master's degree: Urban and Regional Space Planning. Coordinator of the research group "Territory Inequalities" (dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/2321131431346932). I usually taught the mandatory courses ARQ353 (Project III Social Interest Housing) and ARQ354 (Project IV Urban Design) and the elective course ARQ131 (Demographic Principles Applied to Urban Planning) for undergraduate students. Finally, I taught the course ARQ635 (Project and Management of Social Interest Housing Processes) for graduate students. I am particularly interested in the following topics: household arrangements, life cycle, housing demand, housing, geoprocessing, migration, social networks and migratory chains, residential mobility, and population flows.

Estimating the housing deficit can be challenging, considering that this task depends on the availability of demographic data. This article conducted a bibliometric-systematic review and sought to identify scientific publications that integrate these topics. From the Scopus database, 565 articles dealing with the housing deficit between 2003 and 2023 were identified, along with 22 articles from 1981 to 2023 that include some approach based on demographic data. The results highlighted the importance of building a historical record of the housing deficit to understand trends and predict challenges for housing policies, emphasizing the dependence on frequent demographic data collection.
